Review: Polar F6 Heart Rate Monitor vs. Garmin 405 (Part 2)
Two Companies that have dominated the heart rate monitor market for so long have been Polar and Garmin. This review will pit two of their better heart rate monitors against each other. These are the Polar F6 heart rate monitor and the Garmin 405 GPS heart monitor. Both these heart rate monitors have set a standard in the industry and over time will remain leaders in the health and fitness circles.
In-Depth Look into the Polar F6 Heart Rate Monitor
The Polar F6 is an awesome tool for people looking to reaching new heights in their fitness levels and achieving goals. One thing that helps this heart monitor stand out from others is the fact that it can e used by anyone and everyone from elite athletes to people looking to lose weight.
The F6 is also good for use when in a large group setting where other people would be using wireless gear that could also interfere with your own signal. Many other heart rate monitors fall short here because they cannot prevent the cross-talk. Having this allows you to personalize your workout without worrying about others getting caught in yours.
Innovative Features for the F6
There are a few features on this Polar heart monitor that is unique to Polar heart monitors alone. The first is the Zone Pointer which is an audible and visible feature that is on the display of your heart rate monitor. It shows your target heart rate zone and where your current heart rate is within that zone. The next is Polar OwnZone which gives guidance to users on a thorough warm-up plan and determines automatically an effective yet safe heart rate exercise zone. All this is done after consideration of your health. The two other features are Polar OwnCode and OwnCal which cuts out unwanted signals that come from other wireless devices and reveals your expenditure of energy during an exercise session as well as the kilocalories that are accumulated during a couple exercise sessions respectively.
The Downside
A major negative talking point to the Polar F6 heart rate monitor is that the display of the heart rate on this model is quite small compared to the time and date displays. The band has had some issues also. Also users have found some difficulty with the controls on this particular model.
Even though there are a few minor issues with this monitor, there are just too many positives for it that should not be ignored. Picking up a Polar F6 heart rate monitor should be an excellent choice for anyone looking to move up another level in their fitness and workouts.
