Garmin Forerunner GPS Review: Garmin 305 and Garmin 405

The Garmin Forerunner GPS series of heart rate monitor watches have been the premier monitors in the industry. With heart monitor powerhouse Polar having the majority of market share, other brands had to find ways to tap into the market. Timex came out with the Ironman Series and Nike with the Triax. However, it was Garmin with their Forerunner and more particularly the 305 Forerunner GPS unit that really took the Industry by storm. Garmin was able to combine a heart rate monitor with a GPS system. This was something that no other heart monitor brand was able to do. Two very successful Forerunners have been the Garmin 305 and Garmin 405. The following is a short review on both these heart monitor watches.


Garmin 305

The Garmin 305 has been rated 4.5 stars out of a maximum of 5 on Amazon.com by users from all over the globe. In short, it is a high sensitive GPS receiver in the shape of a watch that provides exceptional quality in terms of its signal. The design was well thought of because it sits comfortably on the wrists, has a wide screen display for ease of reading and has the antenna faced upwards to the sky for strong reception. In addition to this, the 305 Forerunner GPS also has a Training Assistant feature that gives athletes and everyday users’ precise data on speed, pace and distance.

One of the great things about the Garmin 305 is that it is able to be used in multiple sporting disciplines such as running, cycling, windsurfing and even cross country skiing. Garmin 405

It comes with a very clear and easy to read 124×95 display screen and is able to accurately give information on distance, pace and calories burnt during workouts.

For wireless data transferring, it comes with the new ANT + Sport interface. This allows the user to analyze further their workouts and see where improvements can be made. The Garmin 405 comes with so many more great features that really take you training and workouts to the next level.
