A normal adult heart rate at rest ranges from 60 to 100 beats per minute and for a well-trained athlete it is around 40 beats per minute. A lower heart rate at rest for an adult generally means a better cardiovascular fitness. If you want to check your pulse simply place two fingers on the thumb side of your upturned wrist or under your jaw along your windpipe. However this process can be a hassle when you’re training. So the best alternative would be the use of a heart rate monitor.
